This is an excursion into the realm of realizable fantasies. This is a trip through one man's voyage of compromise and dispair. For the average modest home in a splendid area of Los Angeles will run you over one million dollars. And who would want to write that tiresome mortgage check and not live in a splendid area?

Not me, that's for sure.

And yet there is a certain amount of pressure at work. Our good friends at the IRS, for one, would smile on me just a little more if I bought a home. And to rent a half-decent house would, sadly, cost far more than to buy.

Now, of course David is still saving up a downpayment, only has a few measley dollars in his home account. But as you well know, for a dreamer to save, he must dream, for otherwise he'll spend his money on another dream. Period. You know how that works.

So in this, an occasional series of web pages, you'll learn about my efforts to defy reality and find real estate happiness. Just remember that the journey is just as important as the destination. After all, the destination in this case may not come for years.
