Here's how they are 'expanding'

Let's say that the year starts off with 100 members.

During the year, 10 people come on board. 20 people leave.

"Normal" mathematics says that 90 people, when you start with 100, is a 10% drop. However, what has been done by some is to say "We had 100, we had 10 people join - we've now got a 10% increase!".

This process can be done each year, so when the "real" number goes down, there is apublished increase each year.

Of course, others lie about it. The simple way to verify that is to check out how many people were purported to have been in 5 years ago and to check at how many places have closed up shop, and to check what numbers are purported today. Someone else has posted the numbers and quotes from leading SCN people which indicate the number is below 100,000.
