No addict _has_ to buy drugs. They can come to the corner and hang with their homies anytime. The other "services" - the crack, the 'ludes, the meth - cost a lot to deliver.

People can get started with a "taste" from friends and wannabes for which there is no fee. Giving "freebies" is a very highly regarded activity in pushing. It brings in new customers.
