We saw the Elaine Seigel letter, the first [that I recall] that outlined an 'official' policy for CoS to deal with the Net. At that time, they thought all they'd have to do is spam a.r.s. with success stories [kinda like what's going on over on aol now]. That would wipe out the 'entheta.' [when was that...may of '94?] We saw Stu "good News" Sjourman and other known FSMs claim they weren't, then try to make money by offering to 'help' anyone interested in finding out more about Scn. What they didn't tell us was that they make someting like 15% off every purchase of an Scn-related product [book, course, e-meter, etc.]. When this fact was brought to light, Stu vanished pretty rapidly. We saw the policy on 'handling' a.r.s. switch to a 3-month stint, with designed 'personalities' posting who *never got to read a.r.s.*. Reading could only be done by someone who was OT5 or above [wonder why?], according to the written instructions posted here. We saw the Cancelpoodle doing the Church's censorship work. It's important to note that the Church has never directly claimed responsibility for the Cancelpoodle. But if they were at all concerned about their reputation, they'd try to stop it. One would think that a conglomerate organization such as theirs that was able to compromise an account at anon.penet.fi, and was able to find Tom K's assailant when the LAPD *still* cannot, would certainly be able to locate and confront the Cancelpoodle [unless it works for them]. We saw scientologists [remember Michael Bacon, as well as Kim Baker. Whatever happened to Elizabeth McCoy?] ask difficult questions of their Church, only to be evaded and slapped down by fellow scn's. imho, it should not be so difficult to air a valid criticism of a belief system and/or it's organization's policies. Especially when one is a member! We saw Freezoners lose the right to practice their religion, because they hadn't paid for the right licensing, or else they had new ideas about the Tek. We've seen Grady's mom lied to by the Church's private investigator, who is wanted for impersonating a police officer in Hillsborough County, Florida, in an attempt to set up Pasco County Sheriff as being involved with a prostitution ring. He got pictures of Grady's kids that way. We've seen all this and more. Again, Tim, what is it that you've seen?
Do you really want us to tell you what we've seen? I've seen RPFers with my own eyes, off the net. It exists.
