Ya know guys for the last wee or so in this conferenct something has been bugging me. This whole discussion about Fat cells. I'd not run accross the reference to it you guys were talking about so had not read it myself.

I decieded IF I was ever to run accross the reference myself OR someone posted the PL title and date in here so i could look it up I'd take the time to do some minor research and see IF i could clear up the apparent confusion OR contridiction with accepted Scientific FACT.

Well someone i think it was Chris has been ranting about Fat cells. He finaly showed me the part by Ron he was raveing about and I THINK I can explain it to him. Although WHY I a Scientologist should have to bother to explain something so obvious to a Scientist is beyond ME.

The sentance in question said "There are no such things as fat cells."

Step 1. look up Fat Cell in the Funk & Wagnalls New International Dictionary of the English Language.

You won't find THAT. What you WILL find is Fat-Cell. (in here i'll quote the definations I found that apply in the word as used). Lets first break the wor

down into it's parts. Fat "-n 1. Biochem. A gray to white, greasey, easily melted compound contained in certain specialized cells of plants and animals, and forming an important food reserve and other products essential in metabolism." - (Hyphen) "hy-phen (hi'fen) (I don't have the special keys the dictionary used here in it) n. A mark (- or - or =) indicating connection; used to connect the elements of certain compound words, to show division of a word at the end of a line, and to indicate a unit modifier: a hit-and-run driver ---v.t. To Hyphenate. [<LL. < Gk. hyph'hen under one, together <hhypo- under + hen one]. Cell "b. A small, often microscopic mass of protoplasm, variously differentiated in composition, structure, and function, usually containing a central nuclcus and enclosed within a semipermable wall (plant) or membrane (animal). It is the fundamental unit of all organisms and the physicochemical basis both of indivdual development and of organic evolution from the simplest protoza to the most complex forms of plant and animal life.

Step 2. Now we go back to Fat-Cell (fat'sel') n. Biol. One of a class of uncleated cells filled with fatty matter. See illustration under Hair.

Step 3. We look up Necleated and find nu-cle-ate (non kle'ik,nyoo) (marks missing on this keyboard) adj. Having a nucleus. Also nu'cle-at'ed --- v.t. v.i. .at-ed.at-ing To form or gather into a nucleus. - nu'cle-a'tion n.

From this we get Fat-Cells are one of a class of cells with a nucleus filled with fatty matter.

Now Fat Cells in the original sentance would be Cells made of Fat. But in the dictionary we find that Fat is NOT a Cell BUT can be contained in Fat-Cells.

So we get the original sentance which reads "There are no such things as Fat Cells." to be correct and what it says is There are no such things as Fat Cells.

I'd GUESS that someone reading this without bothering to look up the words would ASSUME there is such a thing as Fat Cells as it's commonly seen USED that way at least in THIS conference and then THINK that ment the same thing as Fat-Cells which IS the correct ussage. BUT as you notice in the sentance he did NOT say There are no Fat-Cells, he said "There are no fat cells." and sure enough there aren't.

Now as to WHY Ron included that peice of to me at least useful information I have NO idea. Maybe to make sure at least Scientologists understood what he was talking about as THEY would know to use a dictionary.

Now here we find in this conference for OVER a week a long winded pointless argument over NOTHING due in MY opinion to nothing more than a simple mis-understood word. fat cells as opposed to Fat-Cells.

I'd suggest to the Anti's and skeptics here they do more careful RESEARCH on what Ron has SAID before they attack it and make SURE they REALLY understand WHAT WAS said. I for one do NOT have the time OR interest in RESEARCHING every misunderstanding they might have and documenting it as i did on THIS one and then TRYING toexplain it to them NOR do I think does any other Scientologist here. Most of us are WAY to BUSY liveing our lives and helping our fellows who WANT help to bother with those who have so much time on their hands that all they want to do is DEBATE endlessly over their OWN mis-understandings of the subject.

I'll SAVE this and post it from time to time WHEN this same pointless DEBATE re-surfaces and HOPEFULLY it will save us ALL a lot of WASTED time.

It's been said of ME and other Scientologists here MANY times we don't post a lot of information OR in my case lengthy and word filled messages. I've said MANY times MY reasons are because i see little worth answering to any length in HERE. The above example is what i see WAY TOO much of.
