Freedom Magazine: I got one!

I hold in my hot little hands a copy of Freedom magazine, Vol. 27 No. 4. Well, not literally; otherwise how could I type? :-)

I called the local Scientology Bookstore yesterday to see if I could obtain a copy. Sure, they said. Come on down. So, I dropped by this afternoon, and here I am with a document which, for all intents and purposes, defines the Church of Scientology's *public* stance regarding its relationship to the Internet.

Two things worth mentioning:

This is a *big* feature. It will take a couple of days of careful reading and reflection to get a fair picture of the Church's stance wrt the net.

Because of declarations appearing in the magazine's masthead, written permission is necessary to even post *excerpts* from the articles. Unless I get such permission, I won't be posting excerpts, which is a shame, because I wouldn't want to be accused of posting inaccurate summaries.

Anyway, here are the titles of the articles:

The Good, The Bad and Internet
The Evolution of the Internet
Hijackers on the Information Superhighway
The Future of the Internet
Solutions to On-Line Lies
A Crime by any Other Name...
Modern Computers: Free Speech Does not mean Free Theft
Introducing Ethics into the Computer World
Bringing Cyberspace to the Classroom

Btw, my dealings with the folks at the Scientology Bookstore were entirely cordial. The three people who talked with me seemed sincerely interested in making me feel welcome and in fulfilling my requests. Seems that the friendly exchanges at the protests last week aren't isolated phenomena.
