Lets talk credabilityBy axg708@cscgpo.anu.edu.au (Ashraf Ghebranious)Tue, 20 Jun 1995 03:56:49 GMT Woody oh Woody! Where do you fart from oh Woody? For it seems your colon contains your brain as your statements continue to resemble the contents of an emptyed bowel. Lets discuss your heirophant for a little while shall we??? Hubbard, it is claimed, has decided to give of himself so the whole of humanity could walk the bridge/escalator into the 'new life'. Their claim is then expanded upon. You see, we are not really supposed to be here!!! We were trapped into physical existence by Ming the Merciless..or is the Ping the Perilous? NO!!! Its Xenu. Thats just plain Xenu, no sub title. Anyway, he managed to put all that we were and trapped us in a volcano somewhere off the coast of Hawaii. Of course such details are trivial! I mean, whats the difference between approx 76 million years ago and 75,834,901 about tea time? Not much, but Hubbard gives the details for the doubting Thomas's amongst us. And yet, from Hubbard's personal correspondance, we see a different image. In a letter to one of his wife's, Hubbard claims that his sole purpose in life is to smash his name into the history books. This is a feat he never stopped trying to do. He was especially fond of being know as the man who wrote a million words or whatever and he wanted to get himself a Nobel prize for his purification rundown. Of course, Hubbard remains a legend in his own mind..according to Koos. He never really managed to smash his name into the history book further than FDR for example, but his devotees intend to finish the task for him. But there is a problem in the thinking involved here. If scientology will help humanity reach beyond the physical world and enter the world of the metaphysical; move from actual having a physical body to the eventual freeing and droping of said body to a world of eternity, why the need for history books? I mean spirits dont need to read, so why the great need for fame from us mere wogs? Or is this question too hard to answer without an audit? And to top it all off, Hubbard's life is a revelation in itself. Especially when you compare it to the churches view of reality and see that it just does not hold up. Where is the credability in a man who only sought personal fame from the start and whose life contradicts ever 'truth about himself' he has ever revealed. Hubbard not so much lived a lie as created one for his followers to live for him. In the end, the web was so appealing to him, that not even reality was a barrier to his desire for fame. Yet you build your life based soley on the premise that Hubbard did not lie about his insight to this 'religion'. I dont disagree with you! Its Hubbard's own track record that indicates that the chances that he lied about certain 'religious' experiences (eg The Wall of Fire) are better than 50-50. Ashraf
