Compuserve Sysop Death Threat?By sl@newton.texel.com (Georle)17 Jul 1995 23:32:56 -0400 Robert Marcus <102020.1551@CompuServe.COM> on 16 Jul 1995 15:24:19 GMT in <3ubav3$14v$1@mhadf.production.compuserve.com> wrote: >Is this how Diane Richardson is spending her last days? Scientologist Robert Marcus' death threat to Diane is the same method used a month or so ago by Scientologist Dan Sigal (remember the abnormally ugly posts from him when the -AB- and Caltech discussion was heating up?). The technique is straight from Hubbard, on how to divert attention by "shouting, banging, pointing, swearing", until the opponent drops the question and "caves in" (Hubbard HCOB 10 Dec 69 & BTB 21 Jun 75). It remains to be seen what Scientology is diverting us from. It must be fairly important, given that Scientology was willing to commit a federal crime to do so. There are three main possibilities that I see. 1. The relationship between Robert Marcus and 'Standup' on Compuserve, as caught by Diane on 13 Jul 95: >...Standup, for those of >you who don't know, is a publication of the CAN Reform Group, a >"Church"<spit> of Scientology[tm] front group whose purpose is to >hassle CAN. We know that Andy Milne, OSA operative and former >poster to this newsgroup, edits Standup. 2. The identification that Standup is probably a Compuserve sysop, as reported by Mike on 13 Jul 95: >The messages showed Standup's CompuServe user ID number >as 76744,162, The 767 usually, but not always, indicates >a COMPUSERVE SYSOP owns the account. It could be a CompuServe >sponsored (free) account assigned to a forum contract holder, >or more often, a nonfree account used by a sysop who only runs >free in his own forum. It is important to note that not every >767... ID is a sysop account, only most of them. And what about Scientologist L. Sobocinski's 76523.2236 Compuserve ID? ^^^ 3. The identification of Standup as 'Shawn GB Tyler', who had earlier posted to a.r.s., as grepped by Clambo 7/17/95: >Gee.........valence problems? >>>From: Standup <76744.162@CompuServe.COM> <<<<<= >Subject: Kisser,Crime,Drugs and FrivolousLit >Date: 12 Jul 1995 23:43:19 GMT >Message-ID: <3u1mmn$4f5$1@mhafc.production.compuserve.com> >>>From: Shawn GB Tyler <76744.162@CompuServe.COM> <<<<<= >Subject: Re: How an OTVIII thinks and Canner's >Date: 7 Apr 1995 02:14:21 GMT >Message-ID: <3m275t$1mg$1@mhade.production.compuserve.com> >References: <3lukdi$fqa$4@mhadg.production.compuserve.com> Anybody know if Shawn posts to any other groups where Scientology has interests (alt.support.*, militia groups, alt.slack, etc) ? Anybody able to grep 76744 out of all the headers on a newsspool, to see what other names this account is using ?
Of course, maybe Scientology is just moving in on Compuserve like they did on AOL. I guess that would make Netcom, or Genii, or maybe UK's Demon next (or maybe they're capable of parallel processing). As Raskolnikov pointed out to Marcus: >I find it interesting that you comment >on this. Your flames suggest that there is >something to Ms. Richardson's idea, as Chris >Miller has shown us with the whole affair >involving -AB- and anon.penet.fi. > >When they try to dissuade us from investigating >a controversy, chances are their's something to be >found. ... >As i said before, when you flame people for >following some clues around, that suggests >that you've got something to hide. But everybody knows those Rooskis are just paranoid. -- Georle "Paranoid, and to spare!" Followups to alt.religion.scientology
