Woody and a policy of non-confront

Several posters recently have called for a blanket policy of not responding to Woody, arguing that Woody's 'hat' in the handling of ARS is to flood the group with nonsensical subject lines and one line posts, and that following up simply perpetuates the length of time these lines hang around, thus raising his stats.

Not only have there been posts to this effect, but I have also received e-mail suggesting that I do the same -- e-mail that I assume has been sent to all those who follow up Woody posts.

While I agree that Woody probably does have a spamming brief, I am totally opposed to any concerted effort to 'handle' Woody in this way. In my opinion, Woody's posts highlight the moral and intellectual bankrupcy of the Co$, something that those who have followed him up often highlight.

Furthermore, I also feel that as a person, Woody is one of the nicest Scientologists that has ever posted here. Sure, he rarely makes any sense, and his posts typically fail to address the issues, but they lack the malice that typifies most of the posts by Co$ people here on ars.

If you don't want to read Woody's posts, then killfile him. If you don't want to read any of the Woody threads, then you can killfile them as well. If you do feel that following up is a problem, then don't follow his posts up -- but personally, I find that some of his posts are more amusing than those of many of the anti's who post, and some of the follow ups (especially those of christi rockwell - "he's not a man, he's a giant chicken") introduce a note of levity that I find welcome here.

Come on people -- we aren't the Co$ -- the cool thing about the critics is that there IS NO PARTY LINE. We all have our own reasons for being here. If I wanted to follow some party line, I'd join the Churchies.

Be sensible, exercise discretion and responsibility in your posting habits by all means, but calls for an across the board response to the posts of any individual suck, IMO. What's more, Woody can argue that ARS posters are an organization that have implemented a policy of non-confront because they are scared of him -- and he would be correct.
