an interesting reaction to the death threat

I have recently started corresponding with a friend relating some of the goings on on a.r.s. My friend (nbg2@aol.com) is on the staff of a member of the House Judiciary Committee. That committee would be the appropriate place for hearings on barratry and CO$ if we ever get to that point politically. I forwarded to him the Robert Marcus post threatening the life of Dianne Richardson to see what his reaction would be. He responded with the mail message below. Sorry it took so long to post, but I wasnt going to post it publicly without his permission, which finally arrived tonight.

Reposting starts here:

I notice a pattern in the threats you reference in your post and in the threats we have been receiving at our NYC and DC offices. It seems that all lunatics use the same approach. They never say "I will harm you." Instead, they phrase their threat as if the outcome is an inevitable fact of life (e.g. "You are going to die very soon.").

In our case, after JN introduced legislation to outlaw militias organized to, or in process of committing any illegal act, he started getting all sorts of crank phone calls and letters. One nut case wrote us a letter making himself sound as if he were the hand of God or fate. He signed it something like "in the service of Jesus, King." His letter was full of death threats that were framed as I described above. For example, he said that JN was "guilty of treason," that the penalty for treason is death, and that traitors are going to die soon.

In this particular instance, the nut-case was in touch with us on three separate occasions, so we turned it over to the FBI. They sent three agents to see him and to put him on notice that he is now on their list of wackos to watch if anything happens to JN (a lot of good that will do!). The wacko proceeded to write a further letter to us telling us all the FBI visit and complaining that we had sent the agents to intimidate him.. He even wrote a separate thank you note to the FBI telling them that they had intimidated him in a very courteous manner, and sent us a copy of that note.

END REPOST

Hear that, Marcus. The word he used was "lunatic", not "satirist".
