Dan Sigal: Chris Miller's post

Hi Dan. Sorry to make a whole thread out of this, but I couldn't find the original thread where we started this, and wanted to make sure you got all the data so you can evaluate it for yourself.

You'll remember I posed some hypothetical questions to you, about how you'd feel if you saw proof of a staff member lying and doing dirty tricks under official orders. I do want to say that I saw your response and I am highly impressed by what you said.

You've seen Chris Miller around, and you may or may not believe that he's on assignment here. I do believe it, mainly because he's shown easy access to church documents and the police records of the Tom Klemensrud affair, and also seems to be connected in with other people working on a.r.s, like Jeff Quiros, the DSA SF (when Jeff had his run-in with Grady Ward, Chris was able to almost immediately find out who he was and call him on the phone, with very little clues to go on).

As I indicated already, my hypothetical question is not exactly hypothetical. I believe there is a dirty tricks campaign being waged by OSA, and that Chris is part of it. I think his post to soc.women was a part of that campaign.

Here's the post (emphasis added):

In article <3r5i0h$g55@covina.lightside.com> Chris Miller <cmiller@lightside.com> writes: >I have been reading with great interest articles which acknowledge
>American businesses with policies which assist women in the workplace.
>As a working mother, I am always on the lookout for such businesses and
=================== >for any cause which supports working women (especially single mothers).
>One leader in this field is the lawfirm of Morrison & Foerster and I was
============================== >thrilled when my daughter landed a job there. Morrison & Foerster has
============================== >been validated for its pro bono work involving women's rights by Working
>Mother Magazine, the Bay Area chapter of Women in Communication Inc, the
>Alliance for Children's Rights, and other groups. I have heard however
>that this stance is more window dressing than truth and that some of
>their clients are actually abusers of women and children.
>I'm told they are doing pro-bono representation of a high
>publicity case involving a deadbeat father 9 years in arrears on child
>support with a history of wife-beating. It makes me wonder if the pro
>bono work in support of women and children is actually self-serving and
>whether they really deserve their awards. Does anyone have any
>information in this regard?
Whether Chris is working as part of an offcial campaign or not, I'll let you decide for yourself, of course. But you'll have to admit that Chris is being disingenuous at best in this post, even assuming the 3 major claims in it (is a working mother, has a daughter, daughter is employed by MoFo) are all true.

Chris is making him/herself (since Chris won't answer even that question, I don't even know if Chris is a man or a woman) sound like just a concerned mother, with no ulterior motives, who happened to do some research into her daughter's new employer and was shocked by what she found. That the number one apologist for the church on a.r.s's daughter should land a job at the lawfirm representing its number one critic is just barely conceivable. That Chris should not disclose his/her conflict of interest as a Scientologist is plain and simply misleading.

I hope by now you've noticed that I've been rather doggedly persuing Chris, asking him/her to confirm or deny the claims made in the post. To date I (and several others) have been met with stony silence and attacks on the character of those asking, in response.

I've told you what I think of the matter. I leave it up to you to make your own judgement, and act upon your convictions.
