I did get something closer to an actual answer. At least it was an acknowledgement of the question. Chris said "My post stands for itself. If you don't like it that's your problem". It's not exactly a whole-hearted endorsement; really it's more of a "shut up and go away".

In return I suggest that we give a similar response to any of Chris's queries. Any question s/he has about a critical posting, just answer "my post stands for itself. If you don't like it that's your problem".

I suspect we never will get a satisfactory answer, but that's ok. My persistence has branded Chris's lies into the Zeitgeist of the newsgroup. From now on s/he will be doubted at every turn, all because s/he was caught in a lie and refused to own up to it. Chris has been well and truly hung on his/her own petard and has nobody else to blame.
