Re: Nasa teams up with scienos

Tom! Where'd you find this?! This is great, and something I can check on. I live within walking distance of Space Center Houston. Don't be fooled by the name: it's a privately owned visitor center, not run by NASA, although NASA gives them a lot of support. Many groups have had receptions or PR stunts there. They're currently running an exhibition for the movie APOLLO 13, with displays of props from the movie and actual Apollo 13 hardware. Ron Howard, Tom Hanks, etc were in town two weeks ago for the kick off. It's a cool place, and I recommend it to anyone visiting Houston.

But on to the clams: last week, while driving down the main road past NASA, I saw a hotel marquee welcoming the Hubbard folks. The CoS isn't putting a whole bunch of money into this, since it was a low rent Holiday Inn rather than the upscale Hilton just half a mile away. By the way Celebrity Scientologists <tm> are quoted in regard to something they couldn't possibly understand, It's pretty clear that the publication was fed a CoS PR bulletin. But I didn't hear ANYTHING about this. No local PR, no mention in any of the papers, no flyers, nothing. I didn't even see the marquee until after the event was over, else I woulda been handing out my stack of left over flyers from the May 6th protest!

I'm willing to bet that NASA has a warehouse somewhere just FILLED to the brim with "Time capsule". Every middle school in the damn country wants NASA to bury a time capsule for them.

Alas, Roger Zelazny died a few days ago. On to the great Theatan processing center in the sky (Mars, that is).
