FAREWELL ANDY MILNE

Well, it looks as if Andrew Milne has stopped attempting to post his peculiar brew of acceptable truth here. He mixed it with too many lies and assumptions, and was called on too many dodgy claims to remain credible.

So, as Andy plods off thru the bonnie blooming heather, his sporran in his hand (that +is+ a sporran?) the sound of the pipes swirling mournfully in the background, here's a (by no means complete) synopsis.

o He could not deny that L. Ron Hubbard was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the case where his wife Mary Sue and ten other senior scientologists were jailed for Operation Snow White. He tried to give the impression that he was denying it, but he could not deny the words of the government sentencing memorandum.

o He could not deny that the E-meter had been condemned, when first Diane Richardson, then Steve Marinick, and then I posted the _entire text_ of the court's official judgement in that case. He could not deny that Hubbard's claims had been called "a fraud" and "quackery" in a District Court judgement. He tried to salvage something out of it, but he failed miserably. o He could not provide any evidence that Hubbard had fought a battle against real, rather than imaginary, submarines on the PC-815. Faced with the official finding relayed in secret to the Commander In Chief of the Pacific Fleet, he could only point to the testimony of Moulton, Hubbard's Executive Officer, forty years later claimed despite the evidence of the inquiry that the blimps had seen a periscope and some oil--they reported at the time that they had not.

o He then proceeded to discredit Moulton completely in his haste to find something negative to say about Hubbard's senior in Melbourne --up to then, ilne had supported Moulton's and Prouty's claims which placed Hubbard outside Australia at the time. o Despite months of nagging from me, Andy Milne could not find any specific untruth in a post I made on scientology beliefs, which he claimed was "dishonest." His prevarication on this issue was legendary. o Andy's stock response to any question about Hubbard's less-than-stellar naval career: how can you know the full facts, when most of the naval records have not been released? Indeed, it is doubtful whether anyone know the full depths of Hubbard's incompetence, but his performance in Australia, the "submarine incident" and the incident where he ordered target practice on a Mexican island, hardly argue a man of hidden fortitude. More a Walter Mitty. o Andy then claimed that the author Jon Atack was condemned in court as a "contumelious litigant" in a case which, oddly, has not shown up on the standard legal databases. This may not be Andy's fault, but his inability to post the full text of the judgement when asked hardly argues in his favor. o Oh yes, I nearly forgot: the interview with Snake Thompson's step-daughter. A pity. I was _so_ looking forward to reading the transcript. I am sure I have missed something. Feel free to add your own examples of Andy's achievements on a.r.s.
