Hi there. Am new to this newsgroup (didn't know it existed); just thought I'd get some opinions on my cat's behavior...

My cat Ariel is about 5 years old now. She has been with me since about 8 weeks of age. She has not been neutered, and is *strictly* an indoor cat.

Her behavior at times borders on feral, but... never towards me.

She will not let *anyone* but me touch her. period. But, unlike most cats, she does not turn tail and run. She attacks. It's like she's over-protective of me and doesn't want anyone else invading "our" space. I keep telling guests "under no circumstances are you to attempt to touch the cat, even if she comes up to you", which she will do... She will go up to people and sniff them out, but the instant they attempt to touch her, she shrieks, and attempts to shred them. Oddly enough, she can be in the midst of hissing and growling and attempting to shred a guest, and if I start petting her she calms down and starts purring. But woe betide anyone else who tries to pet her, even *as* I am petting her...

*shrug*

She loves me to death... purrs like an outboard motor, does the whole "kneading" thing, but when someone else approaches, claws and teeth go a-flying...:)

I get concerned, not so much for her sake, but for the guests and my roommates (whom she will not let touch her either), mainly because she does *not* play. She does not differentiate between playing and fighting. If I tried to "play" with her with a bare hand, I'd be in for major surgery. There's no half-way with her; it's all or nothing. There have been a few occasions when I've "gone too far" in playing with her, and she's drawn blood to let me know; but the next second, she'll be on my lap purring contentedly.

Go figure...

Dan, I hate to tell you this, but your cat is in need of some help. If you are not aware of it, your cat has something called a "recative mind" which is causing her to act this way.

In states of Catatonia, or during Cataclysmic circumstances, your cat's analytical mind fails to operate, and sounds and impressions are stored in its recative mind, which later then kicks in to act like hypnotic suggestions. This may occur very early in life, even in the womb.

It is not uncommon for cats to attempt 20 or 30 abortions on their kittens before they are born, which affect the recative mind. Other traumatic experiences in the womb are common, too.

For example, your kitten may be forming in utero, when the mother gets into a fight with some big old Tom. An argument ensues, which might go something like this:

Mother: Meow! Meow meow!
Boyfriend: Meow meow meow!

Now, when the kitten is born, then grows up, it might hear the expression "Meow, meow meow" which will trigger the recative mind into operation! The cat may do strange things like chase its tail or cough up a hairball due to these hypnotic suggestions!

However, there is help for your cat! The religion of Siamology offers a technology for clearing the recative mind. A special device called the C-Meter is used to detect the actions of the recative mind and bring them to the surface, so they will no longer affect your cat.

After the cat's recative mind is "cleared", higher levels of cat development are possible. Does your cat have strange entities infecting its body? These may be "Body Fleatans", which are very common on cats. Siamology can rid your cat of Body Fleatans for only $150,000 or so, give or take a few thousand.

Dan, I suggest you bring your cat in immediately to the nearest Siamology office in your area for a free personality test. Look forward to seen you / her. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To find out more about the anon service, send mail to help@anon.penet.fi.
